Technology and Nonprofit Teams Partner at AWS Imagine Conference
Dr. Jill Biden Speaks at Amazon to Promote Social Impact Organizations
On March 20, 2024, the annual AWS IMAGINE: Nonprofit Conference took place at the Amazon HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia. Following in the steps of last year’s IMAGINE gathering, this year’s event brought together leaders from nonprofit, technology, and healthcare organizations from across the country to discuss how technology can accelerate mission outcomes. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden delivered remarks at the conference, highlighting efforts to advance women’s health research and innovation.
Dr. Biden spoke about her work leading the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, which aims to fundamentally change how the United States approaches and funds women’s health research. She encouraged the attendees to harness the spirit of discovery and ambition to take on the next great healthcare challenge of our time—finding innovative solutions in women’s health.
AWS Establishes New Grant Program to Support Nonprofits
In line with this, AWS announced the launch of the 2024 AWS IMAGINE Grant cycle. The AWS IMAGINE Grant is a public grant opportunity open to registered nonprofit organizations and nonprofit healthcare providers who are using cloud technology to accelerate their missions. Now in its seventh year, the AWS IMAGINE Grant is expanding beyond the U.S. and U.K. to also seek proposals from eligible organizations based in Ireland.
The AWS IMAGINE Grant may provide resources such as unrestricted funding, AWS Promotional Credit, and technical implementation support to help organizations accelerate their projects. In support of continued innovation involving machine learning and generative artificial intelligence, AWS is introducing a new award— the Pathfinder – Generative AI award — that may provide up to $200,000 in financial support to a nonprofit pursuing a generative AI project.
Nonprofits, Government, and Industry Collaboratively Leveraging Technology to Solve Problems
Nonprofit organizations and nonprofit healthcare providers are encouraged to apply for the IMAGINE Grant award category that best fits their goals – regardless of their size, mission area, or stage of their cloud adoption journey. The first application deadline is June 3, 2024. This initiative aligns with the vision outlined by Dr. Biden at the conference, demonstrating how technology is transforming healthcare and health research.
