The AFWERX Expedient Basing Challenge is centered on two key focus areas, with Focus Area #4 addressing both local and deployed basing infrastructure. In line with the Agile Combat Employment (ACE) strategy, the challenge emphasizes the critical role of swiftly developing bare bases and supporting military units in austere, remote, and isolated locations. The goal is to efficiently plan and utilize resources for erecting, constructing, installing, and repairing expedient facilities and vital infrastructure to meet initial mission requirements in locations where infrastructure may be unavailable due to the aftermath of a natural disaster or conflict zone. The focus is on establishing resilient and self-sustaining forward operating locations in hub-and-spoke configurations, considering the often limited resources in remote areas. Core to this is the development of easily transportable, modular, and quickly assembled systems, along with reliable supply chains to facilitate rapid deployment and operation in various remote locations. The ACE strategy prioritizes lightweight, durable, mobile, scalable, and flexible systems to accommodate varying mission durations, force sizes, and environments.

Repy Boards^®: Proven Reliability and Durability

Repy Boards^® are a portable, heavy-duty, all-weather surface board system developed and manufactured by Intelliwings partner company Oohashi Co., LTD., of Japan. Made with recycled high-density polyethylene, Repy Boards^® are flexible, lightweight, and have long service life due to their ruggedness, UV resistance, and non-corrosive construction. Using recycled material reduces waste and supports environmentally conscious Sustainable Development Goals. 

Repy Boards^® enable rapid deployment of vehicles, personnel, and aircraft in remote locations for deployed operations such as humanitarian relief missions following natural disasters and crises. Provided by Intelliwings in partnership with Oohashi of Japan, more than 6700 Repy Boards are already in use and have proven their reliability in over 30 years of service. The Japan Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism use Repy Boards for multiple missions. Repy Boards^® are also being used for commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications in Vietnam and Thailand.
